Getting ready for an Australia-wide pilot

Where flooring retailers and installers find each other.

Installers tell us what flooring they lay and the areas they cover. Retailers post the job, and MyFloorPro works out which installers suit it and lets them know, instead of the retailer ringing through the same list of numbers. None of it is switched on yet, so for now you can join the Founding Network and get your profile ready.

If you’re a flooring retailer: When the pilot opens, it opens as a free beta. Flooring retailers pay nothing to use the marketplace while it runs, and the plan is to run it for around three months.

No card needed. The dates and the final terms are not settled yet, and nothing moves from free to paid without us telling you first. What the offer covers.

Still being built

Everything else

  • Posting jobs

  • Capacity Radar
  • Putting up your free weeks
  • Invitations from retailers
  • Swapping contact details
  • Job sheets and scheduling

None of that works yet. Founding members will hear from us before it opens.

The problem

Nobody can see who is free

Retailers and installers both lose hours to the same phone calls.

You can’t find anyone suitable

The job is sold, the stock is on order, and the installer you always use is booked out for a fortnight. So you start ringing round, or you post in a Facebook group and hope. Neither of those tells you who can actually lay that particular floor next week.

Flooring is not one trade

Someone who lays floating floors is not automatically who you want welding commercial sheet vinyl. Most trade sites lump flooring in as one category, and anyone who has laid a floor knows better.

The work and the installer never meet

A crew finishes early and sits around for a week. A retailer twenty minutes down the road is ringing round for exactly the work that crew does. Neither of them has any way of knowing about the other.

The work itself

Not everyone lays the same floors

You get asked for a specific floor, not a generic installer. A good timber layer and a commercial vinyl installer are two different installers with different skill sets.

Carpet

Broadloom and carpet tiles, domestic and commercial

Sheet vinyl

Domestic sheet, commercial sheet, coving and welding

Vinyl plank and LVT

Planks, tiles, herringbone and feature layouts

Timber

Solid and engineered, sanding and finishing

Laminate and hybrid

Floating floors, stairs, trims and transitions

Floor preparation

Grinding, levelling, moisture testing and flood coating

Resin and coatings

Epoxy and polyurethane

Rubber and specialist

Sports floors, transport and safety flooring

How it will work

From a posted job to a phone call

This is how it is meant to run once the pilot opens. None of it happens today.

Not built yet
  1. 01

    A retailer posts the job

The flooring, the area, the dates and what is involved. Posting costs nothing.

  2. 02

    Suitable installers hear about it

MyFloorPro checks the job against what each installer lays, where they work and what the job needs, then lets them know. No need to have put up a calendar first.

  3. 03

Interested installers put their hand up

The retailer sees who responded, without business names or numbers at this point, and can also invite someone found through Capacity Radar.

  4. 04

You both agree, then talk directly

The installer says yes or no. If you both want to talk, the retailer covers the introduction, you get each other’s details, and the job is between you from there.

Posting jobs, matching, alerts, Capacity Radar, invitations and swapping contact details are all still being built. Read about Capacity Radar or see the whole thing step by step.

For flooring retailers

Stop ringing round to find out who is free

Retailers, contractors, builders, property managers and insurers will be able to post the job and have it put in front of installers who suit it, or look for installers themselves by area, by the flooring they lay and by when they are free.

Area
Where the installer is based and how far they will travel
When they are free
The weeks they have told us they can take on
Type of flooring
Carpet, sheet vinyl, timber, resin and the rest
Products
The brands and systems they have worked with
Domestic or commercial
The sort of sites they work on
Crew size
Whether they can cover the size of the job

For installers

Suitable work comes to you

When a posted job matches what you lay and where you work, MyFloorPro can let you know, whether or not you have put up any free weeks. Taking part is meant to stay free for installers.

You will not pay lead fees or introduction fees, and we take no commission on your labour. There is no way to pay for a better spot in the results either. The retailer covers the introduction, and what you agree for the work is yours.

You tell us how you work

The flooring you lay or need laid, the areas you cover, your crew, your gear. That detail is the whole point. Without it you are back to guessing.

Questions

Questions we get asked

Can I use it yet?

Not for finding work or finding installers, no. You can join the Founding Network and get your profile ready. Posting jobs, matching, alerts, Capacity Radar, invitations and swapping details are all still being built. You will hear from us before any of it opens.

What is the Founding Network?

It is the retailers and installers who sign up before the pilot opens. You set your profile up, tell us the areas and the work that matter to you, and we build the first version around what you tell us.

How will installers hear about work?

When a retailer posts a job, MyFloorPro works out which installers suit it, on the flooring, the sort of work, the areas and what the job needs, and lets them know. That is the main way work will move. Installers can also put up the weeks they want to fill so retailers can plan ahead, but nobody misses a matched job for leaving their calendar down.

Do I have to keep my availability up to date to hear about work?

No. If a posted job matches what you do and where you work, we can still let you know. Putting up your free weeks makes you easier to find when a retailer goes looking, and it sharpens the matching, but it is not the price of hearing about work.

What does an introduction cost a retailer?

Nothing while the founding beta runs, and the plan is to run it for around three months. Once fees begin it is one fixed fee, the same every time. Not a percentage, and not more because the job is bigger. We will publish the fee before anyone is asked to pay it.

What is the founding beta?

The pilot opens as a free beta for flooring retailers: posting jobs, matching, invitations and introductions, with no card needed. It is planned to run for around three months while the matching proves itself, and any pricing that follows gets published before it ends. The offer page has the conditions.

Do installers pay anything?

No. No lead fees, no introduction fees, and we take no commission on your labour. Once fees begin they are the retailer's, not yours, and nothing comes off your rate because the beta is free.

Do you take a cut of the job?

No. The retailers that need installers pay for the introduction, and we may charge for software later. What you agree for the flooring work stays between you and the retailer, and we never touch that money.

Does an introduction mean I have the job?

No. It means you have each other’s details and can talk properly. You still have to agree on the work and the rate yourselves, and either of you can walk away.

Will retailers have to subscribe?

No. Posting jobs, searching, inviting and shortlisting stay free, and the fixed fee only ever applies to an introduction that goes ahead once the beta is over. We might offer monthly software later, but you will never need it to get an introduction.

What is Capacity Radar?

It is the part we are building that shows a retailer which installers have room for more work, what they lay and which areas they cover. It sits on top of the matched job alerts rather than replacing them: the alerts are how a posted job finds the right installers, and the radar is for a retailer who wants to look ahead. It is not running yet.

Will I get work out of this?

We can let you know about jobs that suit you, and make sure retailers that are looking can find you. We cannot promise anybody rings you, and we would not pretend otherwise. Some areas will take a while to get enough installers and retailers on board to be useful.

Do you employ installers?

No. You run your own business. We are not an employer, a labour hire company or an agency, and the retailer and the installer deal with each other directly.

Are installers checked?

Not all of them, and we will not say otherwise. A profile shows the licences, insurance and gear the installer has told us about. Where we have actually checked something, the label will say what we checked. Filling in a field does not make anyone verified. What we will check, and what we will not, is set out on the trust and safety page.
